A Day in the Life of a Project Manager
Hey there! I’m Devan, the project manager at James Arthur Design, and I’m thrilled to welcome you into our world.
With a background deeply rooted in sales and sales management within the print industry for over two decades, I’ve found a seamless transition into my role here. Previously, I spearheaded sales efforts across southern and central Illinois, overseeing dynamic teams of 5 to 10 representatives while orchestrating special sections and meeting tight deadlines.
As the project manager, I thrive on facilitating conversations and serving as the vital link between our clients and our innovative design and social media teams. From inception to completion, I’m deeply entrenched in our projects, ensuring smooth sailing throughout. You’ll often find me in meetings, diligently taking notes, gathering crucial information, and liaising with our creative minds to keep projects on track.
A typical day kicks off with a thorough email check and a glance at our bustling office calendar, brimming with meetings and reminders to touch base with clients and tackle essential tasks. Organization is key in my role, and I pride myself on maintaining meticulous schedules.
Throughout the day, I’m constantly engaged with clients, whether it’s over the phone or via email, diligently gathering insights to propel our projects forward. I also maintain close communication with our team, ensuring they have all they need to keep the creative gears turning.
With our project management system as my trusty companion, I diligently set deadlines, allocate tasks, and monitor project progress, all while ensuring seamless invoicing for our valued clients. With over 20 projects currently in motion, staying focused is paramount.
Upon project completion, it’s time to deliver the goods! From essential ID collateral like business cards and brochures to pristine logo files, I ensure our clients receive nothing short of excellence. And of course, I promptly loop in our social media manager to showcase our clients’ projects to the world. We thrive on celebrating their success!
One of the most rewarding aspects of my role is helping our clients source the marketing materials they need to thrive. Whether it’s business cards or expo booth displays, I’m dedicated to researching and procuring the tools they need to elevate their businesses.
While I may not be the creative force behind our projects, I take immense joy in witnessing their evolution from inception to completion. It’s truly inspiring to see how my meeting notes and discussions culminate in breathtaking logos, websites, and more.
